How All in IT Delivered Scalable IT for Manufacturing at Hoelscher Doors

At Hoelscher Doors, building quality doors has always been the main focus. A few years ago, they realized that to grow and serve more customers, they needed to improve something they weren’t experts in: their IT systems. That’s when they turned to All in IT for help implementing smart, scalable IT for manufacturing.

Family-owned and based in Tomball, Texas, Hoelscher Doors has been crafting beautiful residential doors since 1958. Today, the business is run by three brothers, Derek, Charlie, and Mark Hoelscher. As the company expanded, they faced major technology challenges that were slowing them down. That’s when they brought in Matt Daniel and his team at All in IT.

The IT Struggles

Before working with All in IT, Hoelscher Doors was managing their technology internally. Ivy Dayter, who started as the accounting manager, also wore the hats of office manager and IT troubleshooter. Their old ERP system, Peachtree (later known as Sage), was a constant headache. It wasn’t set up properly, and “smart posting” failures meant that at least two to three times a day, Ivy had to run through the entire building yelling for everyone to log out of the system so she could restart it.

“It was chaos,” Ivy said. “I had to run around the building to every department just to get people out of the system.”

The problems didn’t stop there. They had no proper firewall to protect their network. Their email system was outdated. Their internet connection was painfully slow, and it wasn’t set up to support their growing team.

Meeting All in IT

Derek Hoelscher decided it was time for outside help. They hired Matt Daniel and All in IT to step in and take control.

When All in IT first walked into Hoelscher Doors they stopped five minutes into the initial assessment. There was no firewall, and they were running their entire business off the internet provider’s modem. Before All in IT could continue a proper firewall needed to be ordered and installed.

From there, it was clear that Hoelscher Doors needed a full IT makeover. Matt didn’t just dive in and change everything overnight. He took a phased approach, learning how their business operated before recommending improvements. This helped avoid disrupting the team and made sure the new systems truly fit their needs.

The Upgrades

Over time, All in IT made major improvements:

  • Installed a firewall to protect their network.
  • Moved their email to Office 365 and trained staff on using OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Helped migrate from Sage to NetSuite and stepped up to manage the ERP transition.
  • Upgraded their internet connection from an outdated setup to a gig-speed network. This even saved them money doing it!
  • Introduced dual monitors at every desk, improving productivity and reducing the need for paper.
  • Assisted with building their new 193,000-square-foot facility, helping design the network layout, cabling, and ensuring reliable cell phone signal throughout the massive space.

Matt didn’t just recommend technology; he became part of the team. He spent time on-site, learning how Hoelscher Doors worked, and provided hands-on support and training whenever needed.

Big Results

The impact was huge.

Hoelscher Doors doubled, and nearly quadrupled, their business since partnering with All in IT. They grew from about 25 computer users to nearly 70. With better systems in place, they had the foundation they needed to scale.

You can’t grow without good processes, and IT is a big part of that. By putting the right technology and support in place, Hoelscher Doors was able to focus on what they do best: making great doors. “Any errors we had, Matt helped us fix, and they were permanent fixes. Not temporary band-aids” says Ivy.

Trust Built Over Time

The strongest part of the relationship between Hoelscher Doors and All in IT isn’t just the technology, it’s the trust.

“They’ve been quick to respond for all these years. We trust them. They stay up to date with changes. Can’t say enough good things,” said Charlie Hoelscher.

Even today, when Hoelscher Doors needs something, like a large order of 55 new computers, they trust Matt and his team to handle it.

Hoelscher Doors know All in IT only recommends what they truly need to continue growing.

Looking Ahead

All in IT continues to help Hoelscher Doors stay ahead of the curve. Recently, they upgraded their network security with a password manager and improved endpoint protection. They’re also helping Hoelscher Doors set up a new online portal to make order processing even easier for their customers. The collaboration shows no signs of slowing down. As Hoelscher Doors expands its reach beyond Texas into the southeastern U.S., they know they have a trusted partner by their side.

Advice for Other Manufacturing Businesses

If you want to grow, you have to have a strategy. It’s not enough to set a goal you need a real plan. Hoelscher Doors knew they were behind in some areas and weren’t afraid to invest in fixing it. That’s why they’ve been so successful.

At the end of the day, it’s about more than just IT. It’s about helping good companies become great ones, and making sure technology never stands in their way.
